As University teaching staff, the clinicians at Barrington Physiotherapy Clinic are leaders in physiotherapy practice. They maintain an active programme of continuing education in order to provide their patients with the most appropriate, evidence based physiotherapy assessment and treatment.

Karen Elliott

Occupational Health Physiotherapist 

Karen’s interest and expertise lies in the area of occupational health physiotherapy. She is involved in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in this area. Karen consults to industry and insurers providing services in the areas of injury prevention and rehabilitation to work. She coordinates the rehabilitation service at the clinic.

Alister George

Alister has worked extensively in physiotherapy clinics throughout New Zealand and now brings his experience and enthusiasm to Barrington Physiotherapy Clinic.  He is responsible for supervising the fourth year physiotherapy students in their clinical development. Currently he is involved in research into clinical communication and treatment outcomes.  His treatment philosophy incorporates elements of manual therapy, acupuncture, massage, and pilates.

Jane Bodle

Professional Practice Fellow 

Jane is an experienced physiotherapist who brings over 25 years of clinical practise to her role at Barrington Physiotherapy Clinic. Jane is a  registered acupuncturist and has postgraduate qualifications in manipulative physiotherapy and clinical pilates. She finds these disciplines mesh well in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and chronic conditions. Jane has a particular interest in exercise prescription as a treatment, rehabilitation modality and as a general lifestyle issue.

Penelope Minnoch

Professional Practice Fellow

Penny has been qualified for 15 years working in New Zealand and the UK where she has specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and education. Penny is currently completing her Masters in Sport and Exercise. Penny has a special interest in management of chronic conditions. She works at Barrington Physiotherapy 3 days per week supervising fourth year physiotherapy students.

Jane Ashby

Jane Ashby BPhty, PG Dip Man Phty, PG Cert Tertiary Teaching
Professional Practice Fellow 

Jane has postgraduate qualifications in manipulative physiotherapy and clinical teaching.  She enjoys using her skills with both the patients she treats and the students she supervises in the clinic. Jane is also experienced in Clinical Pilates which incorporates therapeutic exercise and motor learning while treating the patient's specific problem.
