Physical Activity Programmes

Barrington Physiotherapy Clinic is now offering physical activity programmes for individuals who would like to increase their activity levels and improve their health and independence.

Exercise can provide tremendous benefits to health and wellbeing and improving physical activity has been shown to increase fitness, balance and reduce falls risk. Together with the physiotherapist you will develop long term self management strategies to stay well, fit and active.

You will work closely with a registered physiotherapist who will support you to achieve your goals, tailoring the programme to your individual needs and requirements.

The physical activity programme offers you the flexibility to:

  • undertake exercise at your own pace.
  • at a time that suits your lifestyle.
  • in your own home.

THE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY PROGRAMME WILL INCLUDE

  • Education and advice regarding independent physical activity at home or in the community.
  • An individual physical activity prescription
  • Physiotherapy support for 6-8 weeks with fortnightly reviews to reassess and progress your individual programme.
  • Continued support will be offered during the programme and at completion to suit the individual.
  • A written report of your progress on completion of the programme.

  • you may be referred by your doctor

COST

$240 per programme

The physical activity programme includes:

  • Initial and final sessions (1hr each).
  • 2-3 follow up sessions (30-45min each).
  • 1 home session for patients identified as having a risk of falls.
  • Written report on completion.
  • Support throughout the programme.

Occupational Health Physiotherapy Services

Worksite Assessment / Task Analysis

Worksite assessment is an essential tool in the prevention and management of work related injury. It enables identification of undesirable work postures and practices. Documentation of job tasks and physical demands can be used to develop rehabilitation plans.

Includes:

  • Onsite interview with employee / manager
  • Review of workplace / work practices.
  • Documentation of tasks and demands.
  • Discussion with employee / manager about recommendations.
  • Information regarding equipment sourcing if applicable.
  • Written report summarising findings and recommendations.
Work assessment

Work Injury Management Services

Effective and timely work injury management reduces time lost from work and improves return to work outcomes for employer and employee.

Include:

  • Worksite assessment.
  • Recommendations / education.
  • Development of return to work plan in consultation with employee, employer, insurer and other relevant parties.
  • Monitoring of return to work plan.
  • Written reports.
Work assessment

Early Intervention Service

Early attention to discomfort prevents progression to injury.

Includes:

  • Assessment and management of employees with early presentations of discomfort or pain.
  • 3 sessions of treatment / advice in clinic.
Treatment

Injury Prevention / Education Packages for Employees, Health and Safety Representatives, Managers and Team Leaders

These presentations are intended to be given as part of a comprehensive health and safety programme. They are tailored to the needs of the organisation and include practical problem solving sessions to improve effectiveness.

Topics may include:

  • Contributing factors to development of discomfort, pain and injury.
  • Identifying risk factors and solutions.
  • Case studies / problem solving.
  • Staying fit for work (stretches, warm up / down, activities outside work, manual handling principles).
  • Stress management and relaxation.
  • Early reporting.
  • Injury Management.
  • Legislation.

Content will be modified to suit needs of target group and organisation.
