About Us

  • Barrington Physiotherapy Clinic was established at 12a Athelstan St in 1990 by the Otago Polytechnic in order to provide a practical training opportunity for the fourth year students.
  • The physiotherapy school and management of Barrington Physiotherapy were transferred to the University of Otago in 1994.
  • In 2008 the clinic moved to its current premises at 10 Athelstan St

Barrington Physiotherapy Clinic is one of three clinic sites which the Physiotherapy School operates, the others being:

Undergraduate physiotherapy students from the University of Otago are located at the clinic during the University term time. Students work under direct supervision of our experienced physiotherapists.

 

Our Mission

The School of Physiotherapy Clinics will provide services which advance, preserve and promote knowledge, critical thinking and autonomy of physiotherapy students in order to comprehensively meet the diverse current and future physiotherapy health care needs of the community. They will achieve this by building on foundations of research led clinical practice and education capabilities in a variety of environments, and with links with other organisations identified by the NZ Primary Health Care Strategy (2001).

The School of Physiotherapy clinics are jointly accredited by Quality Health New Zealand.
